Yes same here and it is normal for D2H even some D2X. I called Nikon and they said it's probably bugs on the firmware..
Both of my D2H bodies have been firing blanks on the first shot for so long now, I’m used to it, and know it’s going to happen, and I also know it’s a common problem. Here is what just happened to me this morning. I wrote the words below before I saw this thread, and decided to add to this thread rather than start a new one.
I have two D2H bodies that worked fine yesterday both indoors and outdoors covering soccer and volleyball games. This morning I went to get the cameras out and set back to all my default settings so I didn’t end up shooting tonights football game with a custom WB from the volleyball game. Not one, but Both bodies display the err message. I’ve tried different lenses, removing the CF Card, removing the battery, but nothing. Both bodies display the err message. I tried the same lenses on my D200, and all is good with the lenses. Everything I’ve found in my manual and thru a search seem to say to send to Nikon Service. I’ve seen the err message recently, but turning the camera on and off cured it, but not this time. Camera won’t focus, or do anything. Just blink err.
