I had a problem with the optimal AF-adjustment in camera: at 70mm focal length a value of +5 produced optimal focus. But that produced front-focus at 50mm focal length. After running the test with FoCal it turned out that an AF-adjustment of +18 was best at 50mm - but that produced back-focus at 70mm. So I could chose to optimize AF for 70mm or 50mm or set a value of +11 and not have optimal focus at both focal lengths. I tested the predecessor for a similar effect, but the optimal AF-adjustment was +4 at 70mm and +5 at 48mm. I contacted Nikon about this effect which might just be an individual problem of my copy but they didn't get back to me at the time of writing and a second copy of this lens was impossible to obtain.
